Studio NYL President Named ASCE Fellow

Julian Lineham, P.E., CEng, SECB, FICE, F.SEI, F.ASCE, the president and founding principal of Studio NYL Structural Engineers, in Boulder, CO, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Lineham holds many roles at Studio NYL, including managing staff, managing numerous types of projects, procuring work, and marketing the firm. In his over-30-year career in both the UK and the U.S., he has worked on projects in Europe; the Middle East; North, Central, and South America; and China. These projects have brought renown to him and his team for their creative engineering of complex structures and facades.

He is an active member of ASCE, SEI, Structural Engineering Association of Colorado (SEAC), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB). He is on the board of SECB and also its national marketing chair. He is the ICE Western USA representative, on behalf of 13 Western U.S. states. In 2017 he advanced to Fellow of ICE in the United Kingdom.

Mentoring and education are top priorities for Lineham; this is exemplified through his involvement in the AIA mentor program in Denver and Northern Colorado, guest lecturing and desk critiques at four local universities and technical colleges, and his dedication to mentoring junior staff throughout his career. He has a passion for bringing up the next generation of structural engineers and getting them interested in architecture, as well as assisting architectural graduates in realizing the importance of structures and how to integrate them in their designs.

Lineham is a registered professional engineer in Colorado, a Chartered Engineer in England, and is certified in the practice of structural engineering by SECB.
