Spring Leadership Training Opportunities

February 15, 2014

It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n roll or lead an engineering firm. Few things substitute hard won experience, but some insight from leaders who have already made the climb can be a big help. Two exciting opportunities for leadership training are available in the coming months.

  1. The Institute for Engineering Career Development (IECD) Spring Meetup promises 100 motivated engineers access the secrets that other top engineers utilized to get to where they are today. This event is being held in Austin, Texas on April 25th and 26th. Career coach and past Bridging the Gap contributor, Anthony Fasano, describes the event in greater detail below.
  2. The NCSEA Leadership Forum also offers a limited number of structural engineers the opportunity to have thought-proving dialog with industry leaders. Registration is still open for the event taking place in Napa Valley, California on March 20th and 21st.

(A. Fasano, February 15, 2014) I have had the honor and the pleasure of providing career coaching and guidance to hundreds of engineers over the last 5 years, and one thing to me is very clear.  Engineers are very motivated, and they want to be the absolute best they can be.  In fact, a survey of over 6,000 engineers on my mailing list recently revealed that 70% desire to someday be a partner in an engineering firm or an owner of their own firm.

I had the same dream and thankfully was able to achieve partnership at the young age of 27, but it wasn’t easy. Before making the leap, I had sought help and guidance from other engineers at my level and the partners in my firm at the time, but they were always too busy to spend a significant amount of time with me. For this reason, I have decided to put on an event in April that will bring together some of the most successful engineers in the country, so that younger engineers can spend time with them.

The speakers include a past ASCE president, a founder of a consulting engineering firm, and a project principal managing over $20 billion in construction. They will answer how to get your engineering career moving toward a six-figure income as a partner in a prestigious firm. In addition to the learning sessions, there will be Mastermind groups, city tours, and networking events.  All of the details of the event can be seen at www.EngineeringEvent.com
