Richard A. Schrader, P.E., M.ASCE, is the recipient of the Professional Practice Ethics and Leadership Award for contributions to his profession through high ethical standards and personal example in his leadership of organizations, instruction to college students, service pursuing peace, and service to the Ethics Resource Center, the oldest U.S. research organization promoting high corporate ethics standards. Schrader, president and owner of RASchraderConsulting LLC, a New York City–based management and strategic advisory consulting firm, has demonstrated an active commitment to high ethical standards, throughout his career, in his leadership and oversight of organizations by serving on the boards of the American Bridge Holding Corp., HS Grace & Co., the Glenfarne Group, LTC Corp., and Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. Firmly believing and acting on the principle that the leadership of an organization must create, promote, and adhere to a framework based on the highest standards of ethical conduct, Schrader served on the board of Financial Executives International and chaired its Ethics and Eligibility Committee, overseeing a major review and revision of the code of ethics and reviewing a number of cases of alleged ethics violations by members. In addition, he served on the board and Finance Committee of the Ethics Resource Center (ERC), as well as on their advisory panel on the construction sector. The ERC is the oldest research organization in the U.S. focused on promoting high standards of corporate ethics. A captain serving with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1972 to 1983, Schrader taught as an assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point from 1980 to 1983.
