Mark Kanonik, P.E., F.ASCE, a senior associate with EYP Architecture and Engineering PC in Albany, NY, has been elected to Fellow status by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Kanonik has more than 25 years of structural engineering experience with an emphasis on historic preservation, adaptive reuse of existing structures, and structural engineering of atypical structures. He serves as chairman of the Mohawk-Hudson Chapter of the Structural Engineering Institute, and is a former past program committee director.
Kanonik is an adjunct faculty member in the civil and environmental engineering department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, where he teaches graduate-level courses in structural steel and reinforced masonry. He also serves on the advisory board for the department and is a mentor for the senior capstone project. He also has taught undergraduate courses as an adjunct faculty member in the Rensselaer school of architecture.
He is a licensed professional engineer in eight states and is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering.
