The UCLA Student Chapter toured the project site of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the first motion picture museum to open in Los Angeles. The museum will include photographs, films, screenplays, posters, and production and costume design drawings.
The museum will boast a 130-foot-tall sphere housing a 1,000-seat theater, which will be used for premiers and special events. The Dolby Terrace rooftop deck is located at the top of the sphere. Covered in 700,000 pounds of glass and steel, the deck overlooks the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood Sign.
Set to open in 2019, the museum will explore the history and art of films and filmmaking.
