Thomas A. Grogan Jr., P.E., F.ASCE, is the chief structural engineer and director of Quality for The Haskell Company, a Jacksonville, Florida–based architecture, engineering, and construction firm, where he is responsible for the structural designs of all projects.
Awarded the Engineer of the Year for both the Northeastern Florida Engineers Week Committee and ASCE’s Florida Section in 2011, Grogan has been very active in the structural engineering field of civil engineering, most notably in his participation in the advancement of structural engineering licensure.
As a member of ASCE, the NCSEA Licensure Committee, and chair of the Florida Structural Engineers Association (FLSEA) Licensure committee, he has worked hard to prepare and create a structural engineering license in the State of Florida. This legislation has been formally submitted and will be addressed in the spring of 2015 to the Florida Legislative Session.
He is licensed as a professional engineer in 35 states including Puerto Rico. Grogan’s other structural engineering passion centers around his desire to educate those around him, especially in the areas of seismic design and leadership. In addition to his participation within the profession, he has also worked to better the communities in which he lives by involvement in ACE mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and various sports and church organizations.
