The annual ASCE Younger Member Leadership Symposium rolled into Reston, VA, last weekend, gathering young engineers from across the country to learn from each other and develop their leadership skills.
This year’s event drew nearly 100 Younger Members for a three-day crash course in leadership, ranging from self-actualization to mentoring to communication styles to public speaking.
“It’s been very positive,” said Evelina Khakimova, EIT, A.M.ASCE, a bridge engineer for AECOM. “I enjoyed the personal vision presentation. It really made me think about what I want to do in the future. It was difficult for me, actually. So I’m hoping this conference helps me think about it more and take that step.”
