Cold Region Engineering Expert Honored

ASCE has honored Howard P. Thomas, P.E., P.Eng., F.ASCE, with the 2017 Can-Am Civil Engineering Amity Award for his outstanding career specializing in cold regions’ engineering and task management, particularly public and private projects in Alaska and Canada.

Thomas has more than 40 years of experience as a geotechnical engineer and task lead in North America. During that time, his work has encompassed a wide variety of engineering, regulatory compliance, and project management challenges.

He has been a key participant in hundreds of projects large and small, and is CH2M’s expert for cold regions engineering.

The Can-Am Civil Engineering Amity Award is given to a member of ASCE or of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers for either a specific instance that has had a continuing benefit in understanding and goodwill, or a career of exemplary professional activity that has contributed to the amity of the United States and Canada.
