Peter E. Smith, P.E., F.ASCE, an expert in the field of research hydrology, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
He has more than 39 years of experience with the U.S. Geological Survey in California, Mississippi, and New York. Smith’s specialty is the hydrodynamics of estuaries, three-dimensional numerical modeling, mixing in coastal and inland waters, ecological applications of hydraulics, hydroacoustics, watershed hydrology, mathematics, and water quality.
Smith is an active member of ASCE. At the national and local levels he has participated in technical committees and conferences as well as branch leadership.
He has a doctoral degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Davis.
