Shri Bhide, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., F.ASCE, is director of BrIM Product Management at Bentley Systems, Inc., and has had a multifaceted career that spans bridge and building design, software product management, technical marketing, program management, research, and training.
As chair of the National Concrete Bridge Council, Bhide has worked with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in key national initiatives, namely the implementation of LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) bridge design specifications, accelerated bridge construction, and high-performance concrete for bridges. He has presented seminars, organized conferences and workshops, published practical aids on LRFD design examples and HPC (high-performance computing) specifications, and organized train-the-trainer seminars for assisting professors to start LRFD bridge design courses in several universities.
A member of the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials)-FHWA International Scanning Tour, he has coauthored the FHWA’s publication Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems in Japan and Europe.
Recipient of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Designer of the Year Award, and ACI’s Wason Medal Award for the most meritorious paper, Bhide received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto.
