Donald R. Scott, P.E., S.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE, vice president and director of engineering at PCS Structural Solutions, Seattle and Tacoma, WA, has been elected a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Scott is a registered professional civil engineer in Indiana and Montana, and a registered professional structural engineer in Idaho, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Scott started at PCS in 1982, becoming a principal of the firm four years later. He has led many of the firm’s educational, commercial, institutional, and private projects for new and renovated construction.
Within ASCE, Scott has been a member of the ASCE 7 Wind Load Committee since 1996, shaping future IBC provisions for wind design. He currently serves as chairman. He also serves as member of both the ASCE 7 General Provisions committee and the ASCE 7 Steering Committee.
Scott chairs the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations’ Wind Committee as well, and is past chair of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington’s Wind Load Committee. He has authored many technical publications, including the two-volume SEAW’s Handbook of a Rapid-Solution Methodology for Wind Design, and presented numerous seminars and NCSEA webinars on wind design throughout the country.
