ASCE recently recognized the Andean road system Qhapaq Ñan as an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark with a ceremony at Rumiqolqa, an ancient quarry near Cusco, Peru.

Also known as the Inca Imperial Road, the system connected ancient regions in what are now Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru.

ASCE Distinguished Member Ken Wright took part in the celebration, which also included technical lecture symposium about the Inca road network.
