Mark W. Glynn, P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE, the founder and principal of Glynn Group Engineering & Architecture, PLLC, and Glynn Geotechnical Engineering, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Glynn established these civil engineering firms in 1985, in Lockport, NY. They specialize in the geotechnical and structural engineering fields and provide services to earthwork and foundation contractors, various other engineering/architectural firms, and project owners. A large number of projects are in the amusement industry for roller coasters, Ferris wheels, water rides, ziplines, and aerial adventure courses.
In 2016 Glynn was honored by ASCE and received recognition as a Geo-Professional. Also in 2016, he was inducted into his high school’s Distinguished Alumni Foundation. Currently licensed in 49 States and Washington, DC, he serves on the standards committees for ASTM F24 and the Association for Challenge Course Technology. Both organizations promote the safety of amusement rides and adventure attractions.
Outside of his professional efforts, he has served on the executive board of the local Boy Scouts of America, and in 1999 he was awarded the Silver Beaver Medal. Currently he serves on the board of governors for the Kenan Center (a local cultural center) and is actively involved with several other civic organizations. In his spare time he enjoys golf, fishing, tinkering with a fleet of antique motorcycles, traveling, and – best of all – playing with his grandsons.
Glynn earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1973 and a master of engineering degree in 2004 from SUNY Buffalo.
