During National Engineers Week, many tech-oriented civil engineers naturally turn to social media to express love for their profession, why it deserves greater appreciation, and what makes it a rewarding career. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other online communities have been flooded with posts and photos from engineers promoting their profession. Here are some highlights.
In many cases, EWeek simply starts conversations about civil engineering.

Many ASCE members and groups are active in EWeek outreach activities.
Yesterday we hosted the Maine American Society of Civil Engineers’ 6th annual Engineering Badge Day and saw some real innovation as local Boy Scouts built functioning water filters out of cotton balls and sand, and bridges out of folders, Popsicle sticks, and tape. The results were incredible and got us excited about our next generation of engineers! Way to go and #happyengineersweek everyone!
And of course much of EWeek is geared toward inspiring the next generation of civil engineers.
