Prominent Pittsburgh Structural Engineer Honored as Fellow

Jorge Miguel Suarez, P.E., F.ASCE, an expert in the structural engineering of large public infrastructure project design and construction, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Suarez is vice president–director of structural engineering for Michael Baker International, headquartered in Pittsburgh. He has over 39 years of experience in structural engineering projects across the United States, including major interstate and state highway bridges, bridge rehabilitation, and retaining walls.

He has been very active in ASCE’s Pittsburgh Section for more than 20 years, including as Section President and Section Board Member. In 2013, he was recognized by the Section as Distinguished Civil Engineer of the Year.

Suarez has authored or co-authored over 30 papers and presentations in his area of technical expertise.
