Camilla M. Saviz, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, F.ASCE, professor and chair of civil engineering at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Saviz joined Pacific in 1999, and her professional experience includes work on water quality and the hydrodynamic modeling of surface water systems. She has received awards from the ASCE Sacramento Section and nationally for excellence in teaching and for her work as faculty advisor to the ASCE student chapter. Since 2004, Saviz has had the privilege of serving as a mentor and, more recently, as presenter at the ASCE ExCEEd Teaching Workshops, helping civil engineering faculty improve their teaching skills.
She has served as a Region 9 At-Large Governor, but the majority of her ASCE involvement has focused on educational activities. She serves as Faculty Advisor to the Student Chapter at Pacific and has served as a member of various student- and education-focused committees, including the Committee on Student Activities and the ASCE Committee on Accreditation, and as an ABET Program Evaluator. She currently serves as Chair of the Committee on Education.
Saviz received B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Davis. She is a licensed professional engineer in California.
