Do you and your colleagues accurately understand and use the code provisions that apply to your structural engineering projects?
This particular exercise asks you to look at drawings to determine the minimum design live load or roof live load that would be acceptable per ASCE 7-10 in a number of unique cases. These problems represent a common engineering task that is performed in structural engineering offices on a routine basis.
By participating, you will help to improve codes and standards. Submit your solution by July 31 and you will be entered in a drawing for an SEI necktie or scarf. The exercise will take about one hour to complete. Encourage colleagues to participate.
SEI Trial Design Problems are investigations into how structural engineers interpret code provisions.
