ASCE-SEI New Orleans Hosts Busy Quarter

The ASCE Structural Engineering Institute New Orleans Chapter hosted and planned several seminars, workshops, and volunteer efforts around the community. Notable seminars include Structural Strength of Sheet Piles, presented by Richard J Hartman, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE, Strength Design of Masonry, presented by Richard Bennett, Ph.D., P.E., M.ASCE, and Hanging by a Strand: The Challenges of Aging Suspension Bridges, presented by Barney Martin, P.E., M.ASCE, F.SEI.

The Chapter also sponsored awards at the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair. Volunteer judges chose the best projects related to structural engineering in a junior and senior division. Teachers of the winning projects were also awarded for their efforts in encouraging their students to participate in a structural engineering project.
