William J. (Billy) Cunningham, P.E., F.ASCE, a project manager with Mohawk Northeast Inc., in Plantsville, CT, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
He has made celebrated contributions and developed creative solutions that have advanced the profession around the world. Cunningham’s involvement with ASCE began at the John Pascal Brooks Student Chapter at Clarkson University, where he was Chapter president. At the National Capital (Washington, DC) Section, he helped the Section host the 1996 Annual Convention and Exposition.
He was awarded the Section’s Meritorious Service Award. At the Connecticut Section (CSCE), he held several Executive Board positions, culminating in his Section presidency in 2004. He continued his leadership role outside CSCE, serving on the Region 1 Formation Team. He became a Region 1 governor shortly thereafter, serving several appointed and elected terms. Today, he serves CSCE as the Construction Technical Committee chair, arranging and hosting Section meetings on a construction-related theme, and is a die-hard Yankees fan.
