Diana Hasegan has long found value in her ASCE membership. This year, that value just happened to take on a more immediate and definite dollar figure.

Hasegan, P.E., ENV SP, M.ASCE, an environmental engineer in Seattle, WA, recently won a $500 Amazon gift card this fall in ASCE’s Member Renewal Contest.

All ASCE members are entered in the contest when they renew before key deadlines. In a second drawing, Robert Eugene Grace, P.E., M.ASCE, of Los Alamos, NM, won a $250 Amazon gift card.

Members who renew by Nov. 17 will be eligible for the contest drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card. And finally, all those who renew by Dec. 14 will be entered in the grand-prize drawing for a $1,000 Amazon gift card.

For Hasegan, ASCE has been a part of her career since she moved from her native Romania for Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. In 2012 she began working in Seattle and her ASCE connections helped her adjust.

“I was looking to get my network established in a new place where I knew no one,” Hasegan said. “I went to a couple of ASCE events and got involved in some leadership positions. ASCE introduced me to new people.”

Three years later, Hasegan chaired the 2015 Western Region Younger Member Council and is celebrating her Member Renewal Contest prize. The $500 gift card is already gone, she said, albeit toward a good cause.

“I used it on books for my graduate degree,” laughed Hasegan, who is pursuing the degree at the University of Washington.
