ASCE Expresses Condolences to the People of Japan, Ecuador

In a message of condolence sent to ASCE members who reside in Japan and Ecuador following the devastating earthquakes that struck both countries, ASCE President Mark W. Woodson, P.E., L.S., D.WRE, F.ASCE, and Executive Director Thomas W. Smith, III, ENV-SP, CAE, F.ASCE, wrote:

“On behalf of your fellow ASCE members and our staff, we extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family and to all of those affected by this tragic disaster.”

ASCE members who wish to provide immediate relief to those affected are encouraged to visit the websites of organizations such as the American Red Cross, UNICEF, CARE USA, Doctors Without Borders, and Oxfam America.

Following a disaster event, ASCE may send post-disaster assessment teams to advance the understanding of the performance of civil infrastructure. To support ASCE’s efforts now and in the future, please consider a gift to our Disaster Response Fund.
